Very cool idea from the virtual band that has been doing things in their own unique way since they began in 1998. In this Billboard.com article Albarn states:
"I literally made it on the road in America over a month. I didn't write it before; I didn't prepare it. I just did it day by day as a kind of diary of my experience in America," Albarn says. "If I left it until the New Year to release it, then the cynics out there would say, 'Oh well, it's been tampered with.' But if I put it out now, they'd know that I haven't done anything because I've been on tour ever since."Good on you Damon. Maybe a sign of artists changing the shape of the music industry, maybe not. Either way, for him to record the entire album on an iPad is a testament to the changing times and also wicked cool. The album is available for free here after a brief registration. Here's track number seven Amarillo:
Neat idea...but it sucks. Innovative techniques are only cool when the music isn't a snore fest.
